I’m trying to get this blog more regular. But like trying to regulate my sleep pattern or my eating habits, it’s not very easy. I want my readers (that’s you people) to be able to expect certain things each week/month. I started “inspiration wednesdays” (although I do not know why this week it posted on Tuesday although I wrote it on Wednesday…quite a conundrum). Now, I’m adding an “it’s FRIDAY!” post. It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down with Friday!!

Is that how the popular Youtube song goes? That’s the only line I know, because I’ve never actually listened to the song. lol. Yeah. I’m probably the only one who’s never heard that song, & I’m very proud of that fact. Anyways, I’m making Fridays all about reflecting on the past week’s highlights. It’s not only a helpful recap for me, but it can prove that I am actually doing something with my life & not just sitting on my bedroom floor watching Hulu & Netflix all day.

So here are the highlights:

– Started my new job with Christi Falls Photography.

– Got $40 worth of stuff from A.C. Moore for FREE!!!

– Spent a lot of time painting (post to come soon)

– Bought a new planner (oh, yes. For an OCD person like me, this is definitely a highlight!)

– Parent’s bought a Prius 3…which means, after 23 years on this earth, I finally get a first car!! Don’t be jealous, Jaja. I am older. lol

– Worked 3 part-time jobs with crashing.

– Christi gave me all of my & Ben’s engagement photos for FREE!!! Perks of being her assistant.

That pretty much sums up the week…but the week ain’t over yet! Got a lot of cleaning to do today in order to get ready for tomorrow. What happens tomorrow?! Well, Ben & I head up to Lynchburg, VA to find a wedding dress!!!!! Oh…& to see my lil’ sister too. I’ll keep you updated on that front. Praying that my wedding dress is just up there waiting for me!

I have done absolutely nothing today & yesterday except watch the newest episode of How I Met Your Mother & the movie Beastly while planning out the couponing madness for the week. This what not the case on Monday though. I left for work around 9:30 AM & arrived at Christi’s house/office around 10 AM. Since she just recently had a baby (about 4 months ago), she’s needed someone to help her take care of office stuff so that she can spend more time with lil’ Jackson. Because she has been gone for the past 7 weeks with only a couple of day breaks here & there, the office was a bit messy. I was happy to oblige with cleaning & reorganizing. That’s pretty much all I did, except for a quick run to Office Max for some printer ink & a label maker. Sounds pretty boring huh? Well, it was only the first day.

But at the end of the day, before I left to come back home, I got to do something pretty darn cool (by my standards at least, which aren’t very high since there are a lot of things I find cool. Just ask Ben). I got to learn a little bit more about the photography side of Christi’s business & work with Photoshop.

In all honesty, I am quite afraid of Photoshop. There are just so many buttons & tabs & things you can do that seeing all of it makes my head spin. I get performance anxiety. With the endless possibilities that Photoshop offers, I don’t know where to even begin. With Christi’s guidance, I learned how to resize images, crop them, combine images together, & retrace the history of all the changes made to said images.

To people who are avid Photoshop users, this might not seem like a lot but it absolutely made my Monday. It’s a step in the right direction. Watch out, because soon enough I’m gonna know all of the ins & outs of not only Photoshop but also everything else it takes to run a successful photography business from the comforts of your home.

In the recent weeks, I’ve been craving a lot of sweets, not that I’ve given into those cravings. It’s probably because Halloween is just around the corner, & I’ve been seeing so many sweets & candies in all of the stores. In order to somewhat satiate those cravings, I spent a fair amount of time the other day looking at pictures of cake pops!! Just like cupcakes, cake pops can be made into a great work of art. They are not only delicious, but they look the part. (& they are only the size of a tootsie pop or quarter)

There are numerous books dedicated to inspiring people with different types of cake pops! & I’m here to share some of those pictures.

In the spirit of Halloween, here are some “spirited” cake pop designs.Boo!Pretty creepy huh? But you can’t argue with the designs.

and after Halloween, there is Thanksgiving:Gobble Gobble!!

Soooo adorable!!! & I love it even more because they use CANDY CORN!!

Then, in no time, Christmas is upon us!

But just because there isn’t a holiday to celebrate, doesn’t mean that there aren’t cake pops being made.

Yumm!! Looks delish! Now I want a real Pina Colada.

Cake pops are even inspired by famous cartoons or animations. Just see for yourself.

The details on some of the pops are crazy!!!

Here is a section of animal pops. (warning: get ready to go “awwww!!”)

Don’t you just love those sheeps!!!and here is a picture of how somebody made a bunch of cake pops into a “cake”:

Where do people come up with these things?!

Cake pops can even be made to look like other desserts.

Like an ice cream cone cake pop (I wonder if it tastes like ice cream?)

and cupcake cake pops

Pretty crazy, huh?

So by now, you see that people can pretty much make anything into cake pops. You can even use them in lieu of a wedding cake. How? Like this:

or even this:

Ben & I (which means mostly I) have not even begun to really think about our actual wedding cake. Personally, it’s not a big deal to me. If we have one, the only criteria I have is that it looks gorgeous…like from a magazine.

But my favorite cake pop picture of the day?

Here it is:

an owl cake pop!!

I do not know if this owl obsession will ever go away, but for just enjoy my complete infatuation with the creature.

I don’t mind saying that I am very good at art, but my baking skills aren’t up to par. So for you people who are good at both art & baking, this is the project for you!

After church on Sunday, Ben & I made a much needed trip to Home Depot in anticipation for more spackling. We are pretty much finished with our first big tub of drywall but it’s not enough. We wanted to pick up another one now so that in the middle of spackling, one of us won’t have to run out to get some more. While at Home Depot, I also figured we would get another project out of the way…making keys for each other.

I didn’t mind going with a plain & simple key, because I have these owl key covers I bought last Christmas from Urban Outfitters.

But of course, Ben had his eye on some designer keys. Ben picked out two:

Favorite football team = Panthers

Favorite basketball team = Duke (bet some of ya’ll didn’t know that)

One key would be for his house, & one would be for mine. We felt that it was time for us to have each other’s keys. This way I don’t have to search for Ben’s hide-away key (not that it’s ever there), & he doesn’t have to wait for me to open the door for him each time he comes over. I would get Ben’s old house key since he wanted both of these on his keyring.

A minute later, we (mainly Ben) had two new keys sporting some fancy decals.

Ben is happy. Now his key ring holds two keys instead of one.

But I’m not going to tell you which key goes to which house. Finally, no more having to walk from upstairs to downstairs in order to open the door for Ben.

When the pop stations that I listen to {95.1, 96.1, & 97.3} get too repetitive, I turn to the trusty country station {96.9} to put a little spin on the otherwise dull car ride. I can’t stand the country songs about killing deer & drinking beer (I rhymed!), but I do love the soulful, love songs that have come out of the genre. I came across this song on the radio the other day, & I was completely captivated by it. The words to this song are so powerful.

In the low points of life & relationships, it’s important to remember the love & passion that might seem like distant memories. There have been times in my relationship with Ben that he & I have doubted the other. But in the end, we remind each other that our love is stronger than all of those doubts that wiggle their ways into our heads. Don’t forget to remind the special people (aka family, friends, significant other) in your life of exactly what they mean to you.

Here are the lyrics:

We didn’t care if people stared
We’d make out in a crowd somewhere
Somebody’d tell us to get a room
It’s hard to believe that was me and you
Now we keep saying that we’re OK
But I don’t want to settle for good not great
I miss the way that it felt back then I wanna feel that way again

[Brad] Been so long that you’d forget the way I used to kiss your neck
[Carrie] Remind me, remind me
[Brad] So on fire so in love. Way back when we couldn’t get enough
[Carrie] Remind me, remind me

Remember the airport dropping me off
We were kissing goodbye and we couldn’t stop
[Brad] I felt bad cause you missed your flight
[Carrie and Brad] But that meant we had one more night

Do you remember how it used to be
We’d turn out the lights and we didn’t just sleep
[Brad] Remind me, baby, remind me
Oh, so on fire so in love
That look in your eyes that I miss so much
[Brad] Remind me, baby, remind me

[Brad] I wanna feel that way
[Carrie] Yeah, I wanna hold you close
[Brad and Carrie]
Oh, if you still love me
Don’t just assume I know

[Carrie] Baby, remind me, remind me

[Carrie] Do you remember the way it felt?
[Brad] You mean back when we couldn’t control ourselves
[Carrie] Remind me
[Brad] Yeah, remind me
All those things that you used to do
That made me fall in love with you
Remind me, oh, baby, remind me

Yeah, you’d wake up in my old t-shirt
All those mornings I was late for work
Remind me

[Brad and Carrie] Oh, baby, remind me

[Carrie] Oh, baby, remind me, baby, remind me
[Brad] Yeah, you’d wake up in my old t-shirt
[Carrie] Oh, yeah, remind me
[Brad] Baby, remind me
